Introducing Heather and the Furry Poop

Okay, so I couldn't resist! I had to go back to Wal-Mart and buy Heather the greeting card that she said looks like furry poop with a t-shirt on. The complete story is in the post below. Here is a picture of Heather and the Furry Poop with the t-shirt on. Happy Halloween or as the Furry Poop Card says, "It's Halloween.....have a howling good time!"

I am a thief...sort of

Yesterday I had to pick up a few door prizes for a program that I am planning for work. My coworker, Heather, and I made our rounds and finally ended up at Wal-Mart to pick up a few more things for the program. Heather and I had a grand ole time in Wal-Mart which included hula-hooping in the middle of the toy section.

We had a buggy (southern speak for shopping cart) full of things, and we proceeded to check out. On our way out to the parking lot, I marveled at Heather's ability to ride the buggy with perfect form. We loaded the company car (with our company's logo emblazoned on each side), and as I grabbed our purses out of the cart I saw them. There were two Christmas ornaments that had become hidden under our purses and therefore were not paid for. I called Heather's name, and she looked over at me and the buggy. Upon seeing the ornaments, she mumbled, "Oh No". Then we both began laughing hysterically. We laughed so hard that we couldn't move. We laughed for at least good five minutes or at least long enough to worry about bladder control. Several people passed us and just stared at us like we belonged in an institution. One guy even commented that he thought we were having too much fun. (What? Too much fun-there is no such thing!)

We finally stopped laughing, and we decided that we needed to take the ornaments back in and pay for them. The greeter at the door looked at us like we were insane when we told her what had happened. I am pretty sure she was wondering why we were even bothering paying for two little ornaments that were $2 each, but we just couldn't steal while we were in the company car.

P.S.-Heather and I also ended up in the card section. I pointed out a cute Halloween card that looked like a juvenile version of a cartoon werewolf. Heather said it looked like furry poop with a t-shirt on. I lost it! That girl is funny!

P.S.S.-This post makes it sound like Heather is my assistant. She is not. She is just my partner in crime and in other office hijinks. Heather and I actually have different jobs in the same department at our company.

!!Cute, Cheap Shoe Alert!!

My coworker, Heather, had on these shoes today. They are oh so cute! I had to get a pair. Metallic loafers are very popular this Fall. These are a bronze color. The best part-they are at Payless and payless.com. Even better news-they are only $19.99!

Hay Fever

As you know I live in Athens, home of The University of Georgia. One of the agricultural clubs at UGA held a hay bale decorating contest. The UGA Ag. Alumni decided to take part in the contest, so on Sunday I helped decorate a hay bale. Well, I was actually 20 minutes late, and I showed up just in time to see the finishing touches being applied to the hay bale. All the hay bales are so cute, so I thought I would share them with you.

Our hay bale was a piggy bank. Here is me with the piggy bank. By the way, this picture makes me realize that I need new jeans that aren't so baggy. The next picture is of the group that created the piggy.

There was also a chicken hay bale.

A spider.
Frankenstein.
A witch.
There were two hay bales decorated like a bull running over a person.

There was also a hay bale that depicted a man palpating a cow (one way you can check for pregnancy in a cow). I left that one out because it involved a man having his hand up a cow's rear.

The sorority I used to be in also had a hay bale. It was decorated like a smore, but it just didn't photograph well. I also left that one out.

If you live in the Athens area, these hay bales are located on South Milledge Avenue near where South Milledge ends into Whitehall Rd.

Monday Edition: My Favorite Things

It always surprises me how fast Monday rolls around again. I had a very busy weekend, but it was a very fun weekend. I am hoping for a not-so-busy weekend soon. I need to have time to take pictures of my jewelry, so I can finally open my on-line store. I could use a little extra time to catch up on house cleaning and laundry too! Although, I have to admit that I am thinking about hosting a GA/FL party this weekend.

Today for my favorite thing I thought I would share with you my favorite shampoo and conditioner. I have very thick hair, but it is very fine in texture. Most conditioners weigh my hair down and make it very flat even if they promise not to. In fact, I have noticed that most hair care products don't deliver on their promises. I have found one hair care line that I absolutely love-Keune. Every product I have used from the Keune line has been outstanding. I use their volume shampoo and conditioner on a daily basis. I have also used several of their finishing products. The only down side is that Keune can be a little pricey, and it is only sold in salons that carry the Keune line. Of course, you can probably find it on-line. If you are tired of your current hair care products, you should give Keune a try. I think you will like it!

Hi all! I wanted to let you know that there is another cool give away going on in the blogging world. Thanks to Monogrammed Teacher for posting about this one. You can enter to win two Vera Bradley bags at http://brockandava.blogspot.com/2008/10/my-very-first-blog-giveaway.html. Good Luck, and thank you to the blogger at Brock and Ava for this awesome give away.

The Whistle Stop Cafe

I absolutely love my job! It is hard to describe exactly what I do, but if I had to describe it I guess I would say that I am in public relations. Although, my coworker, Heather, says that my job title should be social butterfly. I think that is also an accurate description!
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join the retirees from the company on a retiree outing. Part of my job is to plan the outing and to make sure it goes smoothly. The retirees always enjoy getting together and going on a day trip. I enjoy the trip as much as the retirees! I enjoy visiting new places and hearing all of the stories that they have to tell!

My favorite part of yesterday was visiting Juliette, GA. What is in Juliette you ask? Well, nothing really.....except for The Whistle Stop Cafe. The Whistle Stop Cafe was the little cafe made famous by the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. If you haven't seen the movie, you must go rent it now! If you find yourself close to Juliette, you must go eat at The Whistle Stop Cafe. The food is yummy, but the atmosphere is even better! I felt like I had been transported back in time or at least transported into the movie. What fun! If you visit, don't forget to order the fried green tomatoes! Here are a few photos from my visit.

Just a little up-date!

I have been out and about all day today! I took the retirees from the company I work for on a trip. I had so much fun, and I can't wait to tell you all about it. Right now, I am headed home for some much needed rest after a busy day! The good news is that I feel much better than I did yesterday! Thank you for all the kind words! Be back soon to tell you all about my outing!

Today I Kind of Feel Like This....

Have you ever had one of those days? I feel a little overwhelmed, a little stressed, and a little disappointed. I think I will go home and self-medicate with a really good glass of wine, a romantic comedy movie (I have been aching to see Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsey.), and maybe even a bubble bath.

FYI: For Coffee Lovers

I just wanted to let you know that Meaghan from I Kicked Cancer's Ass is hosting a giveaway. She has started her own coffee business, and she is hosting a coffee giveaway. Visit her coffee blog for more details.

Trying to be Domestic

I definitely struggle with being domestic. Don't get me wrong-I can throw one heck of a party, but when it comes to the everyday of cooking and cleaning I need a little help. I grew up on a small farm, so instead of being inside learning to cook I was outside playing with the dogs and pigs.

Lately, I have been trying to be better about cooking. Thank goodness my mom is just a phone call away because I am always calling her asking her how to cook different dishes. My mother is a domestic goddess! Come to think of it, my oldest sister is too! I guess that gene just skipped me.

I have decided to share my adventures in cooking with you in case there are some domestically challenged bloggers like me out there. After all, if I can cook it then anyone can! I promise to only share the recipes that worked and were actually edible. Feel free to give me tips and your own recipes along the way.

This first recipe came from Weight Watchers! I love it because I was able to make two different meals from the one recipe!

All I did was cook boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a crock pot with salsa. I used two jars of mild salsa. The chicken cooked all day on the low setting.

Meal One: The chicken was our main dish with veggies as the sides. I cheated and used canned veggies. I love Old Glory Canned vegetables. They are so yummy!

Meal Two: I used the chicken to make quesadillas. I shredded the chicken, added a little more salsa, some cheese, and some refried beans (from a can). I put it all together between two tortillas and heated it in my skillet. You can also use the leftover chicken to make tacos or burritos. A friend of mine uses her left over chicken to make an enchilada casserole. Not sure how she does that, but maybe she will share her enchilada casserole recipe with us.
I hope you enjoyed my first adventure in cooking! Have a happy day and look for more quick and easy recipes coming soon!

Monday Edition: My Favorite Things

My favorite thing this week is dedicated to dog care! As you know I am the proud dog mom of three fuzzy canine children. On my way home from work one day last week, I stopped at a local tack and feed store to check out their selection of pet products. They had a wonderful variety of pet products. They also had really great prices. If you are in the Athens Area make sure to stop by Mary's Tack and Feed on the Atlanta Highway in Bogart.

While I was at Mary's, I discovered a product that freshens your dog's breath and even helps with tartar build up. It is a liquid that you add to their water. I tried the brushing teeth thing with my dogs, and it seriously didn't work with them. I never knew there was an alternative to brushing their teeth. I was so excited to find this liquid tartar remover. There are several varieties on the market, but this is the one I purchased (picture below). You can find this product and products like it all over the Internet, and I am pretty sure your local pet supply store will have it. So far my dogs haven't minded the tartar remover being in their water. It definitely helps freshen their breath. I will let you know how it works on fighting tartar build-up.

I also picked up a Halloween costume for Scout (my cocker spaniel) last week at Target. I purchased a pig costume for her. It was so cute that I just couldn't resist. It was also on sale ($7.00)! I am not into dressing my dogs up, but I had to get this precious little costume. I am thinking about making Boone (our large black dog) a Daddy Long Legs costume for Halloween. He would be the perfect spider because he is so long and lanky. Porter (our chocolate lab) will have to miss out on the costume. Michael refuses to let me put a costume on Porter. Maybe I can at least sneak a football jersey on him! Below is a picture of the pig costume from the Target web-site. I will post pictures of Scout in her costume soon.

P.S.-For those of you who are waiting for the grand opening of my on-line store, I am sorry to say that it will be delayed a few days. This weekend was so busy that I didn't have a chance to take pictures of my jewelry! I am really sorry! I promise to have it up soon!

FYI

I just wanted to let my blogging friends know that Tara over at The Watermelon Tree is hosting a giveaway. She is giving away an earring and necklace set or a $10 gift certificate to her Etsy store. She has super cute jewelry! Make sure you visit her and comment on one of her post this week for your chance win!

A Hole In The Wall

This week has been so busy and so wonderful!!! One of my college roommates and dear friends came to visit. She and her husband are stationed in Japan (Her husband is a JAG Officer), and I haven't seen her since her wedding. We enjoyed a nice long lunch filled with quality girl talk!

Another day this week, I enjoyed lunch with my co-worker, Heather, and my husband. Heather and I started day dreaming about having side-by-side offices. We decided which offices we wanted, and we even decided that we would cut a whole in the wall between our new offices to make communication easier. We took it a step further by deciding that we should have a blog about our side-by-side offices and all the crazy things we do at work. Michael said we should name our blog "A Hole In The Wall". How perfect!

When we arrived back at work our day dream ended because we realize that no one in their right mind would let us have side-by-side offices. Also, we realize that a blog about work and the crazy things we do at work would probably get us fired. Don't get me wrong. We do our work, but we just have a lot of fun in the process! The bad news is that we will never get our side-by-side offices or have our "A Hole In the Wall" blog. The good news is that Heather has started her own blog.
Heather is a professional photographer and has started a blog about her photography business. In the not too distant future she will be taking photos of me and Michael and of course a few with the dogs. Keep an eye out for our photos. In the mean time, make sure to check out Heather's blog and welcome her to the blogging world!

Monday Edition: My Favorite Things

Wow! This Monday brings an end to a really great weekend. My weekend was filled with reuniting with old friends. It was absolutely wonderful! Some of my reunions were planned and others were just a surprise. I am so thankful for my friends-old and new!

Another thing I am very thankful for is a little item I picked up during my very first trip to the Make-Up Holy Land (Sephora). I purchased the Photo Finish Foundation Primer by Smashbox. I originally saw this product in my How Not to Look Old book, and I thought I would try it! I have used it for about a week now! It is really great! It does everything it claims. I love how smooth my make-up goes on and how soft my skin feels after applying it! Below is what the Sephora web-site had to say about it!

Photo Finish Foundation Primer

What it is:

Smashbox makeup artists use this product to create a perfect canvas for foundation application.

What it is formulated to do:

The silky blend of vitamins and antioxidants smoothes and perfects skin, while the unique formula helps to inhibit the destruction of collagen, and fills in fine lines and pores for a flawless finish.

What else you need to know:

Use after moisturizer and before foundation for complexion perfection. This skin-soothing blend of antioxidants, which can be worn alone or under foundation, works overtime to fill in fine lines and even out skin texture.

!!Give-Away Winner!!

Thank you so much for all your comments! I put all the comments in a basket and drew one at random. The winner of the necklace is Cincy MaMa! Congratulations! I hope you enjoy the necklace as much as I enjoyed making it!

I do have a little surprise! I decided to draw a second name for a pair of earrings! The winner of the earrings is Maki!

Thanks for everyone who participated in the giveaway. I promise to have more giveaways soon!

I Yearbooked Myself and So Should You!

I always think Friday is perfect for a little show and tell! A while back my coworker, friend, and sidekick, Heather, introduced me to a new site where you can place your face in old yearbook photos. It is hilarious! If you haven't already tried it, visit http://www.yearbookyourself.com/. It is so much fun, and it is really easy to do!

Before Picture:

After Pictures:

The picture above actually closely resembles how I looked in high school.

I think I look a lot like my mom in the picture above.

Just A Reminder!

I just wanted to remind everyone to make a comment on a post written this week (Monday, Oct. 6-Sunday, Oct. 12) in order to be entered to win the necklace. Can't think of a comment? Just tell me about one of your favorite things!

I'm a Ma'am!

Yesterday was a wonderful day! My coworker Heather and I took a half day of vacation and went shopping in Atlanta! We didn't buy much, but it was fun looking and having some girl time! I also got to step foot into Sephora for the very first time. I squealed out loud! It was wonderful. It was like the Holy Land for Make-Up! I also wore my very favorite outfit yesterday, and it reminded me of a story that I just had to tell you!

I have always looked very young for my age. In fact, when I was a middle school teacher I was often mistaken for a kid. However, as I begin to approach 30 I am definitely starting to look more my age. Stupid fine lines!

Last Fall, I had an alumni event that I attended at The University of Georgia. It was a back in the classroom day where we took fun mini classes and were able to visit with our old classmates and professors. I was enjoying myself so much! I had on my very favorite outfit, and I was feeling so young being back on campus and part of the college scene again. I mean, I was even having a good hair and make-up day! I was pretty sure I blended in and just looked like one of the college kids-A better dressed version of a college kid, but still a college kid.

At lunch time, we ate in one of the new dining halls on campus. As I was getting my drink, I thought I heard someone say something to me, so I turned around and looked over my shoulder. I guess I must have had a puzzled look on my face because a young man (who was a real college student eating in the dining hall) came up to me and asked, "Do you need any help ma'am?". Ma'am! My ego was deflated. Here I was thinking I looked like a college kid, and all along I looked like a ma'am! Of course, I thought it was funny, but I did put on a little extra anti-aging moisturizer that night!

Monday Edition: My Favorite Things

Fall is such a lovely time of year! I enjoy the cooler days and the beautiful colors that Fall brings. However, the one thing I despise about Fall is that it marks the time when I have to put my beloved flip flops away. However, I have found a perfect replacement for my flip flops-Morgan and Company Ballerina Flats with Monogrammed Button! These flats are oh so cute and oh so comfortable. The best part is that they are on sale right now for $15.00! Follow the link above to check them out! Don't wait around too long though-these little shoes are being discontinued and many sizes are already selling out!
