One of my favorite blogs (Polka Dots and Protein Bars) has a post that she calls "True Story Tuesday". Her stories always make me laugh, so I thought Tuesday would be an appropriate day to share the following story. I told this story to Heather just the other day, and she suggested I share it on my blog.
Michael and I honeymooned in St. Lucia. We were unable to find a direct flight, so we ended up having lay overs in several different airports. I found myself especially bored in the Miami airport, so I decided to browse the magazine kiosk.
Being a huge fan of The Girls Next Door, I immediately spotted the Playboy that had the girls on the cover. I had to have that Playboy, so I did what any other wife would do. I headed back over to Michael, and I begged him to buy me a Play Boy. You would think this would be any man's dream come true. I mean seriously, how many men have a wife (a new wife at that) that wants them to buy a Playboy? However, he refused. He absolutely would not buy the magazine.
Frustrated at Michael and determined to get the magazine, I marched back over to the kiosk and bought the Playboy. Of course, I also purchased gum and about 5 other magazines to disguise my unusual purchase. (It reminded me of the first time I ever had to buy feminine products. I hid as far down as I could in the shopping cart.) I thought about telling the cashier (in a loud voice) that it was for my husband and pointing him out for retaliation purposes, but I decided to be nice.
I couldn't wait to read all about Holly, Kendra, and Bridget, so as soon as we boarded the plane I hid my copy of Playboy in one of my other magazines and read all about The Girls Next Door. I guess that I prove there are really some people who purchase Playboy for the articles, and I probably hold some sort of world record for being the only woman to buy a Playboy on her honeymoon.

Haha! That is one funny story! I would have done the same thing if I wanted to read it. I used to hide the feminine products by buying magazines and stuff, but now I will stock up for 3 or 4 months at one time. I am sure the teenage boy checking me out at Kroger thinks I have a problem, but I take advantage of the sales and I don't feel like getting a new pack every month.
That is such a funny story. I also used to hide feminine products the first couple of times I bought them. Now I couldn't care less who sees.
That is holarious, can't say that I have ever purchased PB, though I was curious about that issue. Thank you for sharing.
That is so funny!!
Hahaha you crack me up!
Hahaha! I have subscribed to Playboy for the last 4 years. I did my Senior Thesis on the mag and am a devoted reader!
The articles really are amazing and people are surprised to know that the pictures take up less than one third of the mag!!!
I've had the pleasure of meeting the girls and Holly and Bridget are so truly wonderful!!! Kendra was too busy on her phone, hahaha!
;)
Haha - that is too funny! I have definitely never bought a Playboy or encouraged my hubby too, so you hold the record in my book :) Thanks for sharing a funny story.
hahaha..this story is hilarious! What a great idea for Tuesday! Love it! :)
That is too cute! Haha. I love how you hid it on the plane to read it.
Haha great story!!
LOL!!! I totally read the same article when I saw it in my BIL's stash. Although his stash is on top of their kitchen table most of the time. Glad you got your magazine. But now the real question...have you convinced hubby to buy you feminine products yet? XOXO
PS- I left you something on my blog!!
You are so incredibly funny!! Love that!! :D
haha, that's so funny!=)
Hahah what a riot!!!
how funny!! i would have DIED had someone seen me reading that on the plane!
great story. I love the True Story Tuesday idea...very fun!
That is hilarious! I would have done the same thing. I love the girls next door. Did you hear Kendra has her own show coming out? She is my least favorite but I'll still watch. :)
I just stumbled across your blog, and have enjoyed reading it with my afternoon coffee here in Amsterdam. That story is hilarious, looking forward to reading more True Story Tuesdays :)
I have purchased Playboy before and for my husband. No big deal. I think it is prety clean and not so vulgar.
Great story! Hilarious!
I bought that issue too-but I was on a trip where it wasn't sold in the usual (non embarrassing)spots so I had to go to a gift shop that had a strip joint next door. My hubby shook his head at me and told me I needed to broaden my TV horizons! LOL!
Hahahaha LOVE the story! What a great True Story Tuesday! Thanks for the shout out :-)
I would have done the same thing! I loved the Girls next door! Who was your favorite?
I would have done the exact same thing!
