It's the End of the World as We Know It

Let me start my blog by saying that I am a Christian. I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea from what I am about to say. I am just trying to lighten the mood on a serious subject. It's how I roll. I am funny and sarcastic at all the wrong times.

Since the beginning of time people have tried to predict the end of the world. I remember vividly when I was in the sixth grade, I was at my grandmother's house picking figs (to make jam) and my grandmother predicted that the end of the world would come soon. Her dooms day prediction came because of the beginning of Desert Storm.

Recently, I have heard many dooms day predictions that revolve around the war in Iraq, the economic situation of The United States, and the fact Obama is most certainly the anti-christ. Please remember that this is not my opinion-only things that I have heard. I do not think Obama is the anti-christ. I'm not voting for him, but I'm not willing to give him the title of anti-christ either.

Returning back to my topic, there will most certainly be a day when the world ends and Jesus makes his return. However, no one knows the day or the time, so I am not sure why we get caught up in trying to predict it. If the end of the world is right around the corner, I think that there are clearer signs other than war and poverty. Below are my list of signs that the end time is near!
  • New Kids On The Block are making a somewhat successful return.
  • Crocs are viewed as acceptable foot wear.
  • The fact that truck nuts not only exist, but people choose to put them on their vehicles.
  • Hammer pants are making a comeback. (I have not witnessed this myself, but I saw it in a magazine while I was getting a pedicure.)
  • High School Musical
  • High School Musical 2
  • High School Musical 3
  • The stage production of High School Musical
  • High School Musical-On Ice!
  • Miley Cyrus, daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus (singer of Achy Breaky Heart) has a hit on the radio.
  • The Broadway Version of Legally Blonde (Loved the movies-a stage version is a little much)
  • Celebrities find it acceptable to name their children stupid things. (Examples: Apple, CoCo, Honor)
  • Popped collars and other 80's fashions making their way back into society
  • Out of control cell phone usage (I paid $732 to go to a movie, turn your stupid cell phone off.)
  • And if the anti-christ is living among us, I'm pretty sure it is Jessica Simpson.

Another Monday Edition: My Favorite Things

Wow! Last week was such a busy week! It is hard to believe it is already Monday again. I hibernated this weekend, so I think I am missing a few days! My favorite thing today is another web-site. I mentioned this website in my ELF make-up post, but if you haven't checked it out you really need to do so. It is www.bradsdeals.com. This site has mostly on-line coupons, but it also has a few printable coupons. I don't buy anything without consulting bradsdeals.com first. 90% of the time they have a coupon for the store I am about to make a purchase from. This site also has a companion site called "Strange Deals". There is a link to it on the bradsdeals.com home page. It has a list of all the funny and strange items that are for sale. It is very amusing! I hope you find a lot of bargains and giggles on these two web-sites! Enjoy!

Parents of Unattended Children Beware!

I won't be able to add to my blog much this week because I have a huge event at work, so I thought I would share something funny I saw a few weeks ago. Don't worry I still have plenty of funny stories from "The Fat Girl's Club", but they will just have to wait until I have time to write them (probably next week).

A few weeks ago some coworkers and I went to a fabulous lunch at "Abstract Burger". It has delicious food. I had a burger with blue cheese and grilled vidalia onions and a side of homemade chips (don't tell The Fat Girl's Club). However, my favorite part of my lunch was not the actual meal, but it was the sign I noticed near the coffee bar in the restaurant. Of course I took a picture of it so I could share it with you!

Monday Edition: My Favorite Things

It's that time again-time for me to share with you something that I love. I have a new love that I just discovered last week thanks to one of my new blog friends (www.the-watermelon-tree.blogspot.com). My new love is www.etsy.com. Etsy is an on-line marketplace in which you can buy and sell homemade items. I love exploring this web-site and looking at all the wonderful items that people have made. I recently purchased a beautiful pair of earrings from my new blog friend. Don't forget to stop by her store when you visit etsy.com. You can find her handmade jewelry at www.thewatermelontree.etsy.com. Who knows-exploring etsy.com may inspire you to create something beautiful too!

Just thought I would share

I took my sweet little Cocker Spaniel, Scout, to the groomer yesterday. She was extremely over due for a grooming, so I decided to take before and after pictures. Below is the before picture.

Here are a few after pictures.

While I am at it, below is a picture of Scout after her first grooming. Scout is a tom boy, so she was not happy when the groomer put bows in her hair. I think you can probably tell by the expression on her face.

I Kiss Better Than I Cook

While at a craft show with my sister (the oldest chick) I purchased a precious hand painted sign that read "I Kiss Better Than I Cook". For years I have proudly displayed this sign in my kitchen. I find this sign highly entertaining, but I have never given it any real thought......until yesterday.

Yesterday I arrived home from "The Fat Girl's Club" (formerly known as Weight Watchers) and I decided to cook a Chicken Pot Pie (only 6 points a serving). I turned on the C.D. player in my kitchen and danced around as I pre-heated my oven and created my chicken pot pie masterpiece. The whole time I was thinking-I am such a great wife, my husband is going to come home to a happy house and a nice warm, home cooked meal. Everything was perfect!

I put my chicken pot pie in the oven and 20 minutes later I pulled out a beautiful creation with a golden crust. I got a call from Michael (that is my husband if you didn't already know) that said he was going to be a little late, so I went ahead and served myself a portion of chicken pot pie. I took my first bite, and I realized that something just didn't taste right. It tasted okay, but something was missing. THE CHICKEN!!!! The chicken was missing!!!! I forgot to put the stupid chicken in the chicken pot pie!!!! The dogs and the garbage disposal had a really nice vegetarian meal that night, and I learned that the sign is true. I do kiss better than I cook!

The Monday Edition: Things that I Love

If you haven't figured it out by now, my blog is extremely random. To add a little bit of interest and a little stability, I have decided to add a special Monday segment. My Monday segment will spotlight something that I love. It could be a product, a picture, a poem, a piece of art, or even my dog! Today I am going to start with a product.

I have recently become addicted to make-up. I think it is because I keep noticing more fine lines and wrinkles. Until I can afford botox, my only hope is great skin care products and make-up! I am a Mary Kay girl through and through. I always use my Mary Kay in the mornings, but I am just not into packing it all up and bringing it to work for "touch ups". I especially am not into buying a second set to keep in the car or at work...........until I discovered E.L.F.

E.L.F. which stands for Eyes, Lips, Face is a make-up line in which all make-up is $1.00. I placed my first order about a month ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. Now this make-up isn't as wonderful as what I use in the mornings, but it rocks as something to keep in the car or at work. I ordered a train case full of make-up goodies. I keep it in my closet and grab it when I am going away for the weekend or if I have a special event to attend after work. It's perfect, and I don't have to worry about being organized enough to pack up the make-up I use in the morning. (Side note: I am a huge fan of train case make-up bags, and this make-up bag is the best one that I have ever owned.)

Today I ordered a small make-up bag full of goodies to keep at the office. I purchased a make-up case and a full set of make-up for under $15. I did have a 50% off coupon that I found at http://www.bradsdeals.com/. (Which is a wonderful web-site you should check out!) Check out E.L.F at http://www.eyeslipsface.com/. Tell them that the pink chick sent you! (They won't care, but you should tell them any way!)
