As I mentioned in my prior post, I spent the weekend in South Georgia visiting my family. I was also in South Georgia to attend the wedding of a precious friend.
On Saturday, my niece and nephew came over. They begged Michael and I to go swimming with them, so of course we gave in and spent the afternoon swimming. We had such a fun time swimming and spending quality time with my niece and nephew. At 3:45 pm, I had to end our swimming fun because I had to start getting ready for the wedding.
I got out of the pool and immediately took a shower. After my shower, I went through my normal getting ready routine. I moisturized my face, applied mascara, dried my hair, and...discovered my hair had turned green. That's right! Green! Oscar the Grouch Green!
Having blonde hair, my hair has definitely turned green before. It turned green when I was ten years old and from then on I learned to wash my hair immediately after exiting the pool. Never have I ever had my hair turn green during one swim in the pool.
I was determined to make it to the wedding, so I tried twisting my hair in an up-do. It only made it look greener. I tried a low pony tail. It looked even greener. Holy crap!
My Nanny (grandmother) was really enjoying the show. She couldn't quit giggling at me. My mother, who had just had shoulder surgery the day before, was still on pain pills, and she was confident that my hair was not green. It was the drugs talking. My hair was definitely green.
Michael and I decided to turn to a few home remedies. We poured lemon juice and vinegar in my hair. It was such a funny picture. I was leaning over the kitchen sink with Michael pouring vinegar in my hair and gagging. He couldn't take the strong smell of the vinegar. I couldn't help but laugh hysterically.
The vinegar and lemon juice cut most of the green out of my hair. I was not able to get dressed in time to attend the wedding, but I was able to attend the reception with mostly blonde hair and one green curl.
Thank goodness my hair dresser is also one of my best friends. Upon arrival back in Athens on Sunday night, I immediately drove to her house for a degreenification. I am fully back to blonde and my only regret is not taking any pictures of my neon mane!

You are so funny. I really do miss you and wished that I would have been able to see you this weekend. Next time you come down, you have to call me. I am need of Jennifer.
Too funny!! Glad it is all fixed now:)
Oh my gosh! I cannot imagine having this happen before a wedding. My hair has turned green twice and it was a scary site. I'll have to remember the vinegar and lemon juice trick!
I'm glad you made it to the reception and that you're back to blonde!
Oh my gosh! I'm so glad it is fixed now. :)

Too funny! I marvel at how well you handled the situation. I think I would have lost it.
I bet you couldn't wai to post this!!! The whole time where you thinking{well, maybe @ 1 point}: "Ah this will make a great post!" Ha! Ha!

I'm so happy there was a good ending and your right! I wish you took pix! Darn!
LOL!! I know it's funny now but not at the time! Sorry you missed going to the wedding but at least it wasn't a total loss because you were able to enjoy the reception. Glad to hear you're back to normal! :D
I was wanting to see some pics of this! Ha! I was so terrified of this when I had blonde hair!
Oh my goodness! What a weekend you had! I'm so glad you ( finally! ) got it out!!!
Oh my goodness! What a weekend you had! I'm so glad you ( finally! ) got it out!!!
Too funny!! I remember as a child having a friend that always happened to.
Oh my! I have natural blond hair and it's never turned green. I would have freaked!!
too funny - I used to babysit a little girl with white blonde hair, thanks to swim team and constant pool time her hair turned green quite often. we learned that washing hair with ketchup took the green out - weird home remedies. now I think they make some sort of shampoo to cut it!
Hahaha funny!!!
Oh I feel for you! My hair is naturally blonde and it's turned green before. In fact, hard water alone will make my hair turn green.
oh my gosh, glad your hair is back to blonde! such a funny story!
cooper's best friend's girlfriend has natural blonde hair too. last time we were at my parents' swimming her hair turned neon green on the ends...i felt so bad!!
she says she usually wets it and put conditioner on the ends to keep it from turning green but had forgotten that day. oops!
